Choose the Evaluation Tool
- Decide whether you need outside competition, internal comparison, game experience, or observation without direct control.
- Use a Practice Game, Intra-Squad Game, or Spectate because its structure answers that question.
- Check availability, annual limits, tournament timing, and the opportunity cost.
- Choose which starters, reserves, and younger players should be tested.
- Turn the evidence into a lineup, workload, or development decision.
Practice Games Test the Team Against Another School
Practice Games are optional Sunday games against an opponent you select. The opponent screen provides information for comparison, allowing you to choose a test that fits the team’s current level. Official help confirms that players receive experience and Performance Points, but both rewards are lower than in official competition.
Practice Games and Official Games Serve Different Jobs
| Practice Game | Official Game |
|---|---|
| Optional and scheduled by the manager | Required by tournament progression |
| Choose the opponent | Bracket determines the opponent |
| Lower experience and Performance Point rewards | Higher rewards |
| Maximum of five per school year | Number depends on tournament progress |
| Primarily development and evaluation | Primarily championship competition |
Intra-Squad Games Test the Roster Internally
An Intra-Squad Game automatically divides the roster into Red and White teams. It does not require an outside opponent or consume one of the five Practice Games. Official help confirms that participating players develop and may learn Special Abilities, making the format useful for comparing depth, involving younger players, and testing internal roles.
Match the Activity to the Question
| Activity | Best use |
|---|---|
| Daily Training | Build attributes through repeated planned work. |
| Practice Game | Test the team against a chosen outside opponent. |
| Intra-Squad Game | Compare internal players and involve more of the roster. |
| Official Game | Compete for tournament progress and the strongest rewards. |
| Special Training | Attempt to teach a specific Special Ability. |
Spectate Separates Preparation from Execution
Spectate lets the players perform automatically while you observe the game from the manager’s perspective. You can still make substitutions and issue signals when opportunities arise. Use it when you want to evaluate the lineup, see how players behave without controlling every pitch or swing, or focus on roster and tactical decisions.
A Useful Evaluation Plan
- Choose opponents that reveal something meaningful rather than only the easiest available win.
- Spread limited Practice Games across the year so the tests compare different stages of development.
- Use Intra-Squad Games when the important comparison is inside the roster.
- Use Spectate when natural player behavior and managerial observation matter more than your execution.
- Record which role, lineup, or training decision changed because of the result.
The Repeatable Plan
- Start with an evaluation question.
- Choose the format, timing, and participants that answer it.
- Treat the result as evidence for the next decision—not as an isolated event.
